Latest Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp claims Rhian Brewster could be part of squad facing Barcelona

Jurgen Klopp claimed that Rhian Brewster could feature against Barcelona and believed the English forward was ready to play for the senior side.

The highly-rated striker has had a tough time with injuries, but the Liverpool Echo

Liverpool need to turn a 3-0 deficit around on Tuesday, and Klopp spoke during his pre-match press conference guaranteeing that Brewster will feature (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“Yes, there is a big chance. It’s nearly sure. It’s guaranteed.”

Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have been ruled out with injuries, and Klopp added that Brewster has been in great shape too:

“He’s ready.

“The situations are always like this. In an ideal world, in a season you always have much more players than you can involve in a squad.

“Rhian has now arrived with us after being heavily injured. Day by day, he has got better and better. He has been in outstanding shape for the last three or four weeks but the other players were there as well.”

Big future ahead for 19-year-old

The 19-year-old was part of the matchday squad against Crystal Palace in 2017 but did not get any minutes.

However, Klopp was certain Brewster would feature for the first-team in the coming campaign:

“Next season he will be playing 100% and he knows that. I have told him already.”

Barcelona rested several players prior to their clash against the Reds while we had to dig deep to defeat Newcastle at the weekend.

Salah and Firmino not featuring is a huge blow, and we need a miracle to overturn the deficit from the first leg.
