Liverpool were incredible against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League
semi-final at Anfield. The Reds ran out 4-0 winners over the La Liga champions and reached a second consecutive Champions League final.
Barcelona were leading 3-0 after the first leg but were pummelled into submission by a rampant Liverpool.
The Reds were without two key players but it seemed to make little difference for the home side.
Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were ruled out of the clash due to injuries, but the pair were present to support the side.
Salah was always going to be a big miss, but the Egyptian seemed to believe in the side. His shirt had the perfect message ahead of the game: “Never give up”, and well, that is exactly what Liverpool did.
The Reds started like they meant business and a quick goal from Divock Origi got the ball rolling.
True to Salah’s message, Liverpool kept on putting Barcelona under pressure believing they could overturn the La Liga champions.
A brace from Georginio Wijnaldum gave us a 3-0 lead and Origi scored the most important goal of his Liverpool career in the second half.
The Reds have kept on pushing throughout the season and defeated teams late on in several games.
“Never give up” certainly seems to be the mantra for the club this season, and we could still win the Premier League on the last day of the season if Manchester City slip.
