Portuguese outlet A Bola (h/t Daily Mail) reports that Benfica are interested in signing Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno.
The report claims that the Spaniard is being eyed as a replacement for Alex Grimaldo.
Moreno has struggled for regular starts at Anfield since the emergence of Andy Robertson and is out of a contract at the end of the campaign.
The 26-year-old has made just two appearances in the Premier League this season and has had his ups and downs since joining from Sevilla.
The Daily Mail adds that Moreno will consider his options in the summer and had even been linked with a move to Barcelona.
The Catalan giants don’t have cover for star defender Jordi Alba, and the report claims that Moreno is still highly regarded in Spain.
The 26-year-old has never been able to string several quality games for the Reds since his arrival from Sevilla, and a move to another country could help Moreno find his mojo.
The defender helped us reach the Europa League final in Jurgen Klopp’s first season, but saw James Milner become our first-choice left-back before Robertson was signed from Hull City.
The Spaniard has always given his 100% when on the pitch and hopefully, he gets the right club next season and gets to showcase his quality.
