France Football (h/t Metro) reports that Arsenal have held negotiations over a move for Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivorian has had an excellent season for the Ligue 1 side and has racked up 20 goals and 11 assists in the league this season.
Liverpool are interested in the 23-year-old, according to the report, while Bayern Munich are also keen on the winger.
The report claims that Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the attacker but Arsenal are likely to be priced out of a deal for the 23-year-old.
The report adds that Lille would be looking at around £75million for their prized asset and Pepe’s agent confirmed that talks have taken place over a big summer move.
Bayern have already bid £68m (h/t Metro) for the 23-year-old, and he could be a great signing for the German giants.
Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are nearing the end of their careers with the Bundesliga giants too.
Liverpool could do with more options in the final third. The Reds have been lucky that neither Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane have picked up major injuries this season, and we need cover for the pair.
Roberto Firmino also picked up a muscle tear recently and seems set to miss the remainder of the campaign.
Pepe could be a brilliant signing for us but he would not slot straight into the starting XI from the first day.
It would be tough replacing either Salah or Mane, but Pepe could get a lot of playing time as Jurgen Klopp could chop and change the side.
The Ivorian had a great season with Lille last time too, and it will be interesting to see where he lands up next season.
