Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their hopes of landing Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali.
The 19-year-old has played a key role in Brescia’s promotion to the Serie A and was a part of the national team earlier in the season but did not make his debut.
The Mirror claims that Liverpool are interested in the 19-year-old but the youngster has hinted at staying in Italy.
Calciomercato (h/t Mirror) claims that Italian champions Juventus and AC Milan are the ones leading the chase for the teenager.
Tonali also told the Italian outlet that he was willing to remain with his current club (h/t Mirror):
“We do not know we know from day to day, what matters is making the best choice for me. We can’t say if I’m going to Milan or Juve, maybe I’ll stay in Brescia and I’ll do my career there.”
Tonali could be a great player in the future and has years of development left but he seems likely to remain in Italy.
The Reds have several quality midfielders in the current side and it would have been tough for Tonali to get regular starts had he joined us in the summer.
