Liverpool confirmed
that star striker Roberto Firmino trained with his teammates in Marbella ahead of the Champions League final. The Brazilian last played for us in the 3-0 defeat against Barcelona and suffered a muscle strain. The club’s release added that the 27-year-old participated in the first training session on Tuesday with the rest of the team.
The release
adds that the forward will be under supervision by the medical staff and will be managed while going through specialised programmes in the coming days.Firmino is an integral part of the attack and having him back for the final would be a huge boost for the Reds.
The Brazilian scored in both the wins over Tottenham this season, and his movement can be difficult to deal with for the opposition.
Divock Origi did a great job in place of the Brazilian in recent weeks but Firmino provides a lot to the team when compared to the Belgian.
Naby Keita was also present in the training camp as he recovers from an injury. The Guinea midfielder picked up the problem in the 3-0 loss to Barcelona and hasn’t played since either.
Liverpool are still well-stocked in the midfield and it will be interesting to see how we line up in Madrid. Firmino would add a lot of movement and intelligence to the team, but Origi’s form has been decent in recent weeks.
The Reds don’t have any other injury concerns and Jurgen Klopp should be able to pick the best possible side to face Spurs at the Wanda Metropolitano.
