Liverpool have been handed a boost in their hunt for German striker Max Kruse. The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds are considering a move for the 31-year-old Werder Bremen striker, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Express (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that the 31-year-old doesn’t want to play in the Bundesliga next season.
The report adds that Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in the German, but this news will be a bit of a blow to the Bundesliga pair.
There is interest from other non-Bundesliga clubs, with AS Roma, Fenerbahce and Tottenham also keeping tabs on Kruse (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Klopp signed Joel Matip for free from Schalke years ago and we are seeing the best of the centre-back this season alongside Virgil van Dijk.
The German manager has raided the Bundesliga a few times during his Liverpool tenure and has had mixed success.
Loris Karius, unfortunately, could not continue his growth from Mainz while Ragnar Klavan did a decent job when called upon.
Kruse scored 11 goals and provided nine assists in the Bundesliga last season, and he could provide cover for Roberto Firmino.
The German isn’t the quickest player out there but he can operate out wide and this versatility could come in handy for Klopp.
