Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds are not interested in signing Sergio Ramos

Liverpool are not interested in signing Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos despite reports from Spain linking the Champions League finalists with the 33-year-old (h/t Mirror).

The report claims that the Reds and Manchester United made contact with Ramos’ team regarding a switch to the Premier League.

Ramos and club president Florentino Perez had a fallout after the defeat to Ajax in the Champions League, but the report claims that Liverpool are not looking to sign the Spanish centre-back.

An Anfield source was quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“There is 0.0 percent chance of Sergio Ramos playing for Liverpool.

The source added that the decision had nothing to do with Ramos’ antics from the Champions League final last season, and added that the player doesn’t fit Jurgen Klopp’s requirements:

“Ramos just doesn’t fit the kind of profile that Jurgen Klopp is looking for. We wouldn’t even sign him if he was available on a free.”

Ramos dented Liverpool’s Champions League hopes

Liverpool faced Real in the final last season and ended up losing 3-1, thanks to a pair of Gareth Bale goals.

However, the story from earlier in the game was Ramos injuring Mohamed Salah after wrestling him to the ground and landing on his arm.

The Egyptian had to be replaced around the 30th-minute mark, and Loris Karius suffered a concussion after a clash with Ramos later in the game.

Although the Spaniard is a great defender, he certainly is not needed at Anfield at the moment. He doesn’t have many years left in his career and we already have a great defence.
