Revealed: The first player that Arne Slot wants to sign for Liverpool

Arne Slot wants to bring Crysencio Summerville as his first signing for Liverpool

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Arne Slot has identified Crysencio Summerville as his first signing for Liverpool, wanting to bring the Leeds United man next season.

Summerville has had an impressive season under Daniel Farke in the Championship. In 45 games for the Yorkshire club this season, the 22-year-old has scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists, helping his side in the bid to qualify directly for the Premier League.

Leeds United were in a prime position to achieve direct qualification to the Premier League but a late dip in form means they might now have to go through play-offs. On paper, they are a strong enough side to qualify but play-offs can be a tricky game.

Slot is closing in on becoming the next Liverpool manager. He is set to move to Anfield and take over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of this season. Following an impressive stint as the manager of Feyenoord, he is now moving to his first big challenge where the entire world will be watching him.

Predominantly a left-winger who can also play on the right wing, Summerville could be the extra fresh impetus that Liverpool need in their rather stale attack. The likes of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have been underperforming for quite some time.

Liverpool must remember that the step-up to the Premier League from the Championship is not going to be easy. The quality that the top-flight English football has is completely different and it remains to be seen how the Summerville adapts to this.

Summerville’s market value is said to be around €18 million but the Whites might actually want more than that to part ways with him. At the right fee, it would make sense for Liverpool to sign the talented forward and they should be looking to get this over the line.

Liverpool are likely to make the Arne Slot appointment official in the coming days. The Dutch manager should be able to use his connections to convince Summerville to come to Anfield. Let’s wait and see how this particular transfer saga develops.
