Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool to offer Jurgen Klopp new deal after Champions League success

The Guardian reports that Liverpool want to keep hold of star manager Jurgen Klopp after their Champions League win over Tottenham.

The Reds banished the memories of the 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the final last season as they overcame Spurs 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the first minute before Divock Origi scored a goal late on.

The report claims that Klopp has three years left on his current deal and earns £7m per year.

However, FSG want to reward the German as they want to build Liverpool further, and the report adds that Klopp is happy with the club and the city.

The report adds that Klopp has rejected talks of a contract extension in recent months and his seven-year stay at Anfield would match his tenures at Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.

Liverpool have also extended the deals of many first-team stars such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino last season, and the report adds that Liverpool’s owners want to keep Klopp beyond 2022.

The perfect manager for the club

FSG must do all they can to keep hold of Klopp after his remarkable work with the Reds.

The German has transformed the side as we are competing for top honours once again, and it is difficult imagining anyone else doing a better job at Anfield.

Our Champions League win proved we can beat any club in the world while we came second in the Premier League this season.

That has to be the target for us as we look to break our Premier League duck. Manchester City pipped us by one point and if anyone can help us win the title, it has to be Klopp.
