Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho has rejected a contract with the Reds and wants to leave Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.
The Portuguese starlet has attracted interest from Sporting Lisbon and Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, the report claims Bundesliga side Schalke are also keeping tabs on Camacho.
The Liverpool youngster was played in defence by Jurgen Klopp last season, and the Reds want £10million
for the 19-year-old and a sell-on clause (h/t Daily Mail). The youngster did a decent job at the back but can play in the attack too.
Schalke are now managed by former Huddersfield coach David Wagner. The report claims that the former Terriers manager is aware of Camacho’s potential and believes the youngster can do well in the Bundesliga.
Several English talents have developed well in the Bundesliga recently. Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund is a prime example while the Royal Blues have also signed Jonjoe Kenny on loan from Everton under Wagner.
The Schalke manager is one of Jurgen Klopp’s best friends, and it will be interesting to see if he can use this link to land the Portuguese starlet.
Wagner was also the best man at Klopp’s wedding and the pair spent time at Borussia Dortmund too.
Getting £10million for Camacho would be a great deal given that he didn’t play too many games last season.
