Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool monitoring Philippe Coutinho’s position at Barcelona
Le10 Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that the Reds are monitoring former star Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian left Liverpool to join Barcelona around 18 months ago but has struggled to star for the Catalan giants.
The 27-year-old scored 11 goals and provided five assists for Barcelona last season, and added that he was unsure about where his future lies (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Brazilian is currently with the national side for the Copa America tournament, and the report claims that Jurgen Klopp could make a move for the midfielder.
The report adds that Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the 27-year-old midfielder.
Only a crazy deal would see Coutinho return
The Brazilian was great during his time with Liverpool and it was a bit of a blow losing him during the January window a couple of seasons ago.
However, things have worked out very well for us as we won the Champions League a few weeks ago and narrowly missed out on the Premier League crown.
Liverpool could still do with a creative influence in the midfield, and Coutinho would not be a bad fit.
However, only a fantastic deal for us should see the Brazilian return. Further, the Reds have a great balance in the team and bringing Coutinho back could affect other players too.

Coutinho could be on the move from Barcelona in the summer, but it would be a major surprise if he ends up returning to Liverpool.
