Times journalist Paul Joyce confirmed that Liverpool starlet Rafa Camacho is set to join Sporting Lisbon in the summer.
The Portuguese starlet made a couple of appearances for Liverpool last season, and the Evening Standard had claimed that the Reds were in talks to keep Camacho at Anfield.
The 19-year-old played as a right-back for the Reds, though he is an attacking player and does a good job on the right-wing too.
The Standard had claimed that Sporting tried to sign the youngster in the January window, but the Reds did not allow him to leave due to a lack of fit right-backs.
The report added that Sporting’s hopes of landing Camacho were handed a boost after the Portuguese starlet refused to sign a new deal.
Camacho only has 12 months left on his current contract with Liverpool, and selling him now makes sense rather than losing him on a free.
The Portuguese would not get too many starts next season too, and it will be interesting to see how he develops with a return to Sporting.
Although Camacho seems set for an exit, the Reds made their first signing of the summer.
Sepp van den Berg completed his move from PEC Zwolle, and the 17-year-old centre-back should be one to keep an eye on for the future.
