Sources have told ESPN that Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic is set for a return to the Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old excelled at Hertha Berlin on loan last season despite only playing 23 games for the Bundesliga side.
Grujic had to deal with a couple of injuries but was one of the most impressive players at Berlin. The Serbian scored five goals and provided an assist in 22 Bundesliga games.
The report claims that Berlin are interested in taking Grujic on loan but face competition from Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bremen and Berlin cannot provide Grujic with European football, however, Frankfurt have qualified for the Europa League playoffs.
The report adds that Frankfurt could make Grujic one of their top players while Bremen’s manager is managed by the same group as Jurgen Klopp.
The Serbian was impressive at Cardiff and did the same at Berlin too. He needs to take the next step and it would be great if he could help Frankfurt in the Europa League.
The 23-year-old needs to take the next step in his development, and European games added into a league campaign would be a test for the Serbian.
Grujic also needs to stay fit for the majority of the season, and he could have a big role to play for us in the future.
