Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has rejoined Hertha Berlin for another season-long loan.
The Serbian spent the previous campaign with the Bundesliga side and was one of their best performers.
The 23-year-old scored five goals and provided one assist in 22 Bundesliga games last season. Grujic also had his fair share of injuries, and it will be interesting to see how his game develops at Berlin this season.
The Liverpool Echo adds that Berlin will pay £2million for Grujic’s services and an additional £500,000 in bonuses.
The report claims that Berlin will pay all of Grujic’s wages, and the Bundesliga club will be penalised if the Serbian doesn’t play a set number of games.
Bundesliga pair Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen were also interested in the 23-year-old, however, Grujic was keen on returning to Berlin.
Atalanta and Brighton were also keen on the Serb, but their bids came in late, according to the report
.Jurgen Klopp still sees Grujic as part of the big picture at Liverpool, and the report claims that the Serbian will be a part of the first-team for the 2020-21 season.
The Liverpool Echo adds that Klopp has been impressed by the Serb‘s attitude and maturity. The 23-year-old also spent time on loan at Cardiff prior to his Berlin move, and he helped the Bluebirds win promotion to the Premier League.
Liverpool have several midfield options at the moment, and keeping Grujic would not have made sense.
The Serbian should start more games next season and hopefully, he stays injury-free for the majority of the campaign.
