La Gazzetta Dello Sport’s Nico Schira claims that AC Milan are keen on signing Dejan Lovren (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Croatian centre-back enjoyed a fantastic World Cup but returned to Liverpool with a problem.
That saw him get ruled out for several games at the start of the season, and he struggled to remain fit during the campaign.
Joe Gomez replaced the 29-year-old in the defence and formed a great partnership with Virgil van Dijk.
When the English defender picked up an injury, it was Joel Matip who was paired alongside Van Dijk and that pairing helped us win the Champions League.
Lovren only started 14 games in all competitions, while Gomez and Matip impressed a lot at the back.
Milan News (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that the Italian giants met with the agent of Lovren too. This was the second meeting between the parties, and the centre-back is valued at £25m (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Although the Reds signed Sepp van den Berg recently, the young defender isn’t expected to break into the first-team soon.
Getting £25m for an ageing Lovren might seem like a great deal, but he is one of the most experienced defenders in the Premier League. The Croatian also has a great rapport with the rest of the team, and we would need to find a quality defender if we sell the 29-year-old.
A defender with experience would not come on the cheap, and Lovren too didn’t make too much noise about not being the first-choice alongside Van Dijk last season.
The Croatian can do a good job as third
or fourth choice, and it will be interesting to see if Milan make a serious move for the 29-year-old.Alberto Moleiro could be on his way to Liverpool for a throwaway price Liverpool and…
