Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is expected to be fit for pre-season training, according to a release by the club.
The former RB Leipzig star picked up an adductor strain during the African Cup of Nations and was ruled out of the tournament.
The release adds that the Guinea midfielder was assessed by a Liverpool doctor, and returned to Melwood for further examinations by the club’s medical team.
The 24-year-old also had an injury-affected season with the Reds and missed our final few games.
Keita was unable to regain fitness for the Champions League final clash against Tottenham, even though he travelled with the team to Marbella.
However, he is expected to return at the end of July, after a break.
The Guinea star joined for a huge fee from Leipzig, with the BBC reporting that Liverpool paid a club record amount of £48m
, plus an undisclosed premium. This was broken by the fee paid for Virgil van Dijk, however, the Guinea midfielder is yet to show his best.
The midfielder was coming into decent form before he picked up an injury for the Reds, and he needs to perform better in the upcoming campaign.
Keita was excellent in the Bundesliga and provides a different element to the midfield.
Liverpool have several extra games this season, and hopefully, we get to see the best of the 24-year-old.
