Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out moving for a left-back in the summer.
Liverpool saw Alberto Moreno leave after his contract expired and we don’t have a natural left-back as cover for Andy Robertson.
The Reds saw youngsters Adam Lewis and Yasser Larouci play against Bradford in the pre-season friendly as Robertson returned to the side.
The Scot was one of our best players last season and Klopp claimed there could be some moves in the summer (h/t Irish Independent
):“We will see. It’s not a yes, not a no. I have said already we have to think about everything and at the end maybe we do nothing.”
The German then spoke about James Milner playing as the left-back, and highlighted that our youngsters have done well too:
“I can imagine we have a look at all the things around us. Of course, we lost a left-back (in Moreno), but today we saw two pretty young ones, and James (Milner) played it. We will see.”
Lewis and Larouci could be decent options as cover for Robertson next season, should they impress in pre-season.
The Reds have promoted youngsters under Klopp, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez becoming regulars in the first-team.
Fabinho can also play the role of a full-back, while Jordan Henderson also featured as our right-back last season.
A versatile full-back who can play on either side of the defence would be great, and it will be interesting to see if Klopp dips into the transfer market to find cover for Robbo.
