Don Balon (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that Jurgen Klopp is keen on reuniting with Marco Reus.
The pair were hugely successful together at Borussia Dortmund and won several titles at the club.
Reus has had his injury problems in recent years but remained fit for the majority of the previous campaign.
The German scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in the Bundesliga as Dortmund finished second to Bayern Munich.
The report claims that Klopp has asked the Liverpool management to explore if they can sign the 30-year-old in the summer.
Reus is one of the most talented players in the Bundesliga and can play in several positions.
The Reds could do with a versatile forward joining the ranks, and Reus is capable of playing out wide, as a striker or a central attacking midfielder.
However, the German is 30 at the moment and would only have a few more years of top quality football left in him.
The German also is a risky signing given his injury record and he would have to fight for first-team starts under Klopp.
Daniel Sturridge left in the summer after his deal expired and Liverpool have not signed a replacement for the Englishman.
Rhian Brewster could be the rising star for the Reds this season, and we also have Divock Origi to provide cover for Roberto Firmino and the wide men.
