Liverpool FC transfer news: Benfica interested in Mignolet
Portuguese outlet A Bola (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Benfica are interested in Simon Mignolet.
The Belgian keeper is our second-choice goalkeeper spot and is expected to retain the role for the upcoming campaign too.
The 31-year-old is one of the most experienced players in the current Liverpool team and did a good job whenever called into action last season.
The report claims that Benfica have turned their attention to Mignolet after missing out on Juventus’ Mattia Perin.
Liverpool can’t let Mignolet leave
The Reds don’t have another senior goalkeeper who can provide back-up to Alisson next season.
Mignolet is one of the most professional players in the world, and it would be best to keep him for a few more years.
The 31-year-old would want to play more games and it will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp hands the Belgian more starts next season.
Liverpool were fortunate last season with injuries. Alisson was ever-present in the first-team and won a couple of Golden Gloves too.
The Brazilian is possibly the best keeper in the Premier League and should have another great season for us this time around.

However, should he pick up an injury, we would need decent back-up and Mignolet can do that job for the Reds.
