Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that AC Milan have ended their pursuit of Dejan Lovren.
The 30-year-old was linked with the Serie A giants this summer, with the Reds slapping a £25m price tag on the defender (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The defender struggled with injuries last season and only started 11 Premier League games for the Reds.
The Croatian also fell down the pecking order at Anfield, with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip doing extremely well alongside Virgil van Dijk.
The report adds that Milan are looking at other options to shore up their defence next season.
The Italians are also not playing in the Champions League and it was a little surprising to see Lovren linked with them.
Liverpool need four quality defenders in the first-team and Lovren has tons of experience too.
The Croatian might have his injury problems but he always gives it his all on the pitch and looked decent alongside Van Dijk last season.
The 30-year-old still has a few quality years left in him and hopefully, he gets to play some games for us next season.
Losing Lovren now would have been a blow. Finding a quality replacement would have been difficult and the Reds have several competitions to play in next season too.
