Harvey Elliott signed for Liverpool on Sunday morning and made his debut hours later against Napoli.
The 16-year-old joined the Reds from Fulham and is one of the brightest talents in the English game.
The winger also holds the record of being the youngest player to make his Premier League debut, and he achieved that feat with Fulham last season.
The Reds swooped in for another youngster after signing Sepp van den Berg, and Elliott did well when he came on against Napoli.
The youngster didn’t get many minutes on the pitch and had barely trained with us, but he looked good in the final third. There weren’t many positives for Liverpool to take from the game but the younger players certainly made a mark when compared to the seniors.
It will be interesting to see if players such as Elliott, Van den Berg and Adam Lewis pick up first-team minutes next season.
The greater worry would be the performances of the team, especially since we face Manchester City in less than a week. The Cityzens also have several players returning after their summer excursions and hopefully, we play quality football against them.
This pre-season hasn’t gone as well as the last one but many fans were pleased to see Elliott in action.
