Liverpool finally broke their winless pre-season run with a 3-1 success over Lyon.
The Reds had not won any of their previous four games and needed a decent performance ahead of the Community Shield final against Manchester City on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side saw the return of first-teamers like Mohamed Salah, Alisson and Roberto Firmino but Lyon opened the scoring via Memphis Depay.
The Dutchman scored from the spot in the fourth minute but the Reds fired back with three goals of their own.
Firmino got the first goal with a smart finish in the 17th minute before Lyon’s new signing, Joachim Andersen, scored an own goal.
The goal of the game came from Harry Wilson. The Welsh attacker scored some incredible goals for Derby last season and produced a sizzling strike from outside the box.
Wilson will not receive regular starts for Liverpool next season due to the presence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Sky Sports claims that Liverpool have no intention of letting Wilson leave on another loan deal, but Klopp could reluctantly sell the youngster if the right opportunity arises for the 22-year-old.
Wilson could provide cover for Mane and Salah next season, and he was one of the stars for Derby last season.
The Reds haven’t made any big signings this summer and many Liverpool fans want the club to keep hold of Wilson.
