Ki-Jana Hoever signed his first–ever professional contract with Liverpool, with the youngster present at the Evian training camp.
The defender has featured in the pre-season games this summer and featured in one FA Cup game last season for the Reds.
The 17-year-old is one of the brightest talents in the Liverpool team and it will be interesting to see how he progresses next season.
Hoever was pleased about penning the deal but was realistic about his chances of playing in the first-team (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):
“I need to be realistic. I hope to make some minutes in the first team this year, of course, but I know that I will probably play more games for the U23s.
“I will just train hard with the first team, show them what I can do and if there is a chance, I will be ready. That’s what I am hoping for.”
The youngster added that he would try to do his best at the club and was planning at staying at the club for several years.
The Dutch defender joined the Reds from Ajax in 2018 and became the third-youngest debutant for the club when he played against Wolves last season.
Liverpool could do with cover for their defence and Hoever is capable of playing at right-back or through the middle.
The 17-year-old has time on his hands as he continues his rise up the ranks at Melwood.
The Dutch defender has the potential to be special and hopefully, he becomes a regular for the Liverpool first-team in the coming years.
