Liverpool looked much better in their win over Lyon than they have all of pre-season.
The Reds hadn’t won since the start of the US tour but scored three goals against the French side.
This result should serve as a confidence boost ahead of our Community Shield clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah, Alisson and Roberto Firmino all started the game after returning from their extended breaks, and Harry Wilson scored a fantastic goal in the second half.
However, there was another youngster who impressed against the Ligue 1 giants. Harvey Elliott again got some minutes on the pitch and looked confident playing out wide.
The 16-year-old became the youngest player to feature in the Premier League when he played for Fulham. The youngster doesn’t seem to be affected by playing for the first-team and was confident to take on the Lyon defence.
Elliott also had some quality passes to show off during his cameo and the youngster had a strike on goal too. The Reds need cover for the wide areas and it seems like Elliott can do that job along with Wilson.
The two players won’t start for us regularly and it will be interesting to see if they play some of the cup games.
Elliott still has a long way to go before he turns out to be a finished product, but he has been one of the most impressive players in the last two games.
