The Telegraph reports that Liverpool have been beaten by Manchester City for Kane Taylor.
The 14-year-old is regarded as one of the most talented teenagers in the English game, and City have agreed on a compensation package with Aston Villa, Kane’s former side.
The report adds that Kane was available for a compensation of £129,000 after de-registering from Villa, and several Premier League clubs were interested in the 14-year-old.
Liverpool were keen on the youngster and there were links with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea too (h/t Telegraph).
The left-footed midfielder is expected to join up with City’s U16 squad for the upcoming season, and Taylor seems to have fit the kind of business we were doing in the summer.
The Reds have made three signings so far in the transfer window, with two of them being teenagers.
Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott are expected to play some part in the upcoming campaign, and the pair impressed during pre-season.
Liverpool have a fantastic first-team and buying players for the future doesn’t seem like a bad move. However, we could do with a couple of first-team signings too, like a cover for Andy Robertson and a creative midfielder.
Taylor has a long way to go before he becomes a regular for City, and it will be interesting to see if we missed out on a fantastic talent as the years go by.
