Latest Liverpool news: Klopp wants Oxlade-Chamberlain to be patient regarding game time
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back to full fitness and started in our last two games.
However, his performance in the UEFA Super Cup wasn’t great, while he did an excellent job in the second half against Southampton.
The Ox was subbed off at half-time against Chelsea in Istanbul, and Klopp claimed the midfielder needs to be patient before he gets back to his best (h/t Mirror):
“He needs to be patient in the right way, and everything will be fine 100 per cent. We only talk about Ox because everybody knows how good he is.
“We need to make sure that he can show that on the pitch as well. When I make the decision that he is now ready then it is my responsibility of course, and the boy only has to try to do his best. That’s what Ox obviously did.”
Ox needs more time on the field
The English midfielder almost missed an entire season due to the knee injury he picked up against Roma, and he will get back to his best after getting more minutes on the pitch.
Klopp added that playing him in an advanced position in the Super Cup didn’t work out, but claimed that things would be alright for the midfielder soon.
Liverpool need the Ox to remain injury-free for the majority of this season as he provides a different dimension to the team.
The former Arsenal star provides a greater attacking threat from the midfield and hopefully, he can create several chances for our forwards.
