Liverpool respond to reports of paying Manchester City £1million over scouting issue

Liverpool don’t confirm or deny reports of paying Manchester City regarding a scouting issue

Liverpool have responded to claims that they paid Manchester City £1million after the Cityzens complained that we had hacked their scouting system.

The Times (h/t Liverpool Echo) reported that an agreement was reached between the Premier League giants in 2013 after City found out that their scouting database was looked into.

City used a scouting system called Scout7 and their login had been used by our club’s employees several times (h/t Liverpool Echo

The report adds that the Premier League leaders paid City a sum of £1million without the club or any individuals accepting any wrongdoing, and the allegations were never tested in courts.

The Liverpool Echo carried a statement from the Reds where they didn’t deny or accept the original report from the Times:

“Liverpool Football Club does not provide any comment on any allegations relating to legal agreements it may or may not have entered into with any other club, organisation or individual.”

Another battle between the pair

The two clubs were involved in a tight tussle in the 2013-14 season, with the Reds just missing out on the Premier League crown.

The pair was almost inseparable last season and we are leading the Cityzens in the league currently.

The rivalry between the two clubs has grown in recent seasons, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the Premier League this time around.

The Reds also had a sizeable lead last season but City clawed back and won the title by one point.
