Jurgen Klopp warns Liverpool defence of Jamie Vardy ahead of Leicester clash
Liverpool suffered a scare in their 4-3 win over RB Salzburg in the Champions League.
The Reds raced to a three-goal lead but allowed the Austrians to come back into the clash in the second half. Mohamed Salah saved our skin by scoring in the 69th minute, but the Reds made several errors at the back.
Our next game is a clash against Leicester City, which has all the ingredients of being another wonderful game.
The Foxes are sitting third in the Premier League after a great start to the season, and Brendan Rodgers will have a point to prove at Anfield.
Jamie Vardy has been one of the stars for the Foxes in the campaign, and Jurgen Klopp warned our defence of the Englishman’s abilities (h/t Mirror):
“I’m sure Brendan Rodgers will think if we defend like that against Leicester on Saturday, Jamie Vardy will run around our goalkeeper and score five times!”
Vardy already has five goals to his name this season and has troubled our defence in previous meetings too.
Klopp added that Liverpool’s defending at times “didn’t make sense” and our positioning sometimes was “rubbish”.
Liverpool have a tough task on their hands
Leicester have grown in recent months under Rodgers and Vardy isn’t the only threat they have. James Maddison has also been excellent this season, and we need to keep them in check on Saturday.
Our defence wasn’t up to the mark against Salzburg but we should see Joel Matip return to the team.
