Alisson unlikely to feature for Liverpool until after October break

Liverpool star Alisson was close to returning to training as his rehab from a calf injury continues (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The 26-year-old picked up the problem in the opening day win over Norwich City, and has seen Adrian do a decent job in his place.

The Spaniard joined on a free at the start of the season and has put up some great performances.

Alisson has shared updates in recent weeks, and even Jurgen Klopp suggested that the Brazilian could have trained on Sunday (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Our next game is against RB Salzburg in the Champions League and we host Leicester City before the international break.

However, the Liverpool Echo claims that the Brazilian won’t be in contention until after the October international break.

The 26-year-old is one of the best keepers in the world and we shouldn’t rush him back. Adrian hasn’t made many errors in between the sticks, but Alisson provides us with more security.

Tough games coming up for Liverpool

Our first game after the break is a trip to Old Trafford against Manchester United.

We then host Tottenham and also face Manchester City in the league while the Champions League clashes against Genk also feature on our schedule.

It will be interesting to see if Alisson is put into the firing lines at Old Trafford or we wait for more time before replacing Adrian.

The Brazilian is a key member of the team, and the Reds should only put him in the starting XI when they are sure of his fitness.
