Sir Kenny Dalglish doesn’t believe Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool soon

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has had his say on the future of the club’s managerial post.

Jurgen Klopp had recently suggested that either Dalglish or Steven Gerrard could replace him if he left the Reds.

The German has turned our fortunes around and helped us land the Champions League last season. However, the manager has often hinted at taking a break after his contract with the Reds ends.

Klopp is contracted at the Reds for another three years while Dalglish has had two stints in the manager’s post.

The legend wrote for his columns in the Sunday Post and refuted claims that Klopp could be leaving soon (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“Let’s be clear. Jurgen is going nowhere, and nobody with the club at heart wants to see him depart.

“He may have led the club to the Champions League last season but there is much more to achieve – in particular Liverpool’s first league title since 1990 – and this season has started very well.”

The Scot added that Klopp would decide when to take a break and no one would criticise the decision.

However, Dalglish claimed that when the time comes, Gerrard could be in the mix, especially after his work with Rangers:

“At some stage, everybody needs a rest, a time to draw breath and take stock. When that scenario unfolds, Steven Gerrard, I’m quite certain will come into the thoughts of everyone at Liverpool.

“He knows the club inside out and is proving himself to be a very capable manager at Rangers.”

Steven Gerrard Liverpool

Gerrard the right man for the job?

Klopp does have some work left at Anfield, and hopefully, he can lead us to a first Premier League title.

The German cannot be the Liverpool manager forever, and the Reds need to keep their options open should he decide to take a break from the job.

Gerrard has done a good job at Rangers and it will be interesting to see how his second season in management goes.

The former Liverpool midfielder has a tough job battling Celtic for the league title, however, they lie just one point behind their rivals after seven games.

The Liverpool job is a tougher one than at Rangers, but Gerrard knows how the club works, and it will be interesting to see who we target should Klopp leave.
