Robbie Fowler explains why Jurgen Klopp turned down Man United offer
Jurgen Klopp was one of the most coveted managers after he left Borussia Dortmund.
The German led the Bundesliga giants to a couple of league titles and also reached a Champions League final.
It was great for Liverpool to land the German as Brendan Rodgers’ replacement. Klopp has turned our fortunes around and we lifted the Champions League last season.
We have improved in every season under the German, and the match seems to be made in heaven. Of course, there were others keen on the German and Robbie Fowler highlighted that Klopp rejected a couple of offers.
The former Liverpool striker wrote in his Mirror column as to why Klopp didn’t join Manchester United or Real Madrid instead of Liverpool:
“I did an interview with him a couple of years ago and he told me he turned down a couple of super-rich clubs after Dortmund – one of them was definitely Manchester United, the other probably Real Madrid – because he hated how they were focused solely on commercial influences.
“He said he liked Liverpool because they had a balance between the money needed to reach the top and the history and identity of the club and their fans.”
Liverpool back to the top
The Reds were in a terrible condition after Rodgers was sacked but Klopp has slowly brought us back to the big time.
The German has reached three European finals with us and just missed out on the Premier League title last season.
We seem set to land more silverware with the German in charge, and Klopp could have been successful at any club. However, FSG have got the balance right so far, and we are doing well on and off the pitch.

It is difficult to imagine anyone else doing a similar job in such a short span of time and hopefully, Klopp stays for long.
