Liverpool absolutely battered Tottenham in the first half on Sunday and it was a surprise how they went into the half-time break one goal ahead.
Harry Kane scored after 45 seconds, thanks to some freak luck with the ball deflecting off Dejan Lovren, hitting the crossbar and then reaching the Englishman.
However, Liverpool were barely fussed by going down and made Paulo Gazzaniga earn his paycheck as the Argentine made several world-class saves.
Any team would have been disappointed with going into the break a goal down after the domination but Jurgen Klopp wanted us to keep playing.
Dejan Lovren started the game in place of Joel Matip and told LiverpoolFC.com what the manager’s thoughts were at half-time:
“We came in at half-time and the boss said: ‘Usually I never say this, but I am satisfied even though we are 1-0 down. But we need to continue like that and keep our nerve.’”
The Croatian believed more chances would come to the Reds and highlighted this was a “massive” win.
This display was a reminder of what we can do when our team clicks into gear. There have been many instances where we won games but didn’t play to our best, but that was not the case against Spurs.
On another day, we should have been 4-1 up at half-time and even the second half saw us dominate the game.
Such performances will only add more belief in the side as we look to win our first Premier League title.
Klopp was right in suggesting that we just needed to keep playing. Tottenham could not hold onto their lead and cracked up to hand us another impressive win.
