Jurgen Klopp hopes Naby Keita’s injury isn’t serious after Carabao Cup win over Arsenal

Liverpool and Arsenal played a Carabao Cup clash for the ages as the Reds won 5-4 on penalties at Anfield.

The game finished 5-5 in normal time, with Divock Origi scoring the equalizer in the dying seconds.

Both clubs made several changes to their starting XI, with the Reds handing debuts to Neco Williams and Sepp van den Berg.

James Milner captained the side on the night and our midfield featured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Naby Keita. Liverpool trailed the game but our winning mentality kept us going till the end.

It wasn’t all great for the Reds as we made several mistakes at the back. It handed Arsenal some of their goals. Keita was having an awful night and his problems were compounded when he slipped in the second half while trying to control the ball.

The Guinea midfielder was substituted a little later and he walked straight down the tunnel, signalling an injury.

Jurgen Klopp spoke about the injury after the game and hoped that it wasn’t serious (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):

“If Naby’s injury is not so serious, which I hope, then it was a nearly perfect night.

“He felt a little bit. I saw it, he slipped when he lost the ball. He slipped away, I saw him limping afterwards and that’s why we did it.”

Keita’s problems continue

The midfielder has suffered from slight niggles throughout his Liverpool career and has never stayed fit for a long time.

Keita has missed several games this season as well, after picking up an injury in the Community Shield. In fact, he only returned a few weeks back.
