Jermaine Jenas believes Liverpool could move for Christian Eriksen

Former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas believes Liverpool could move for Christian Eriksen in the summer.

The Dane is a free agent at the end of the season but hasn’t been at his best for Tottenham. The 27-year-old only has one Premier League goal and one assist to his name this season.

Eriksen scored his first Champions League goal of the campaign in the 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade last night. However, it has been a disappointing season from Tottenham, and they struggled a bit in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Spurs a couple of weeks ago.

Eriksen had a poor outing then, but Jenas told the Mirror that some big clubs would be interested in the Dane’s services (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“If I was Eriksen and the bid didn’t come in that I wanted to come in, I would sit tight, I wouldn’t rush.

“Not only can I move for free in the summer, but that brings in Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, all the big hitters, Man Utd, even Liverpool.

“On top of that you have the huge windfall of wages.”

Jenas added that Tottenham would not have minded had Eriksen left earlier, but says they might not have received the right bid for the 27-year-old.

Liverpool’s midfield conundrum

Liverpool have signed players from other Premier League clubs during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure and it will be interesting to see if we move for Eriksen at the end of the season.

The Reds have several options in the midfield currently and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been in decent touch this season.
