Liverpool consider signing Nelson Semedo and Samuel Umtiti if they lose Virgil van Dijk
Liverpool are interested in Barcelona pair Nelson Semedo and Samuel Umtiti, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The report claims that Liverpool are worried about Virgil van Dijk joining La Liga’s Real Madrid.
They would consider bringing in the Barca pair should they lose the Dutch defender (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Van Dijk helped us land the Champions League last season, and we finished second in the Premier League too. We are currently unbeaten in this season’s Premier League and face a tough clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
Van Dijk only joined the Reds around 20 months ago but has won several individual laurels too.
Umtiti and Semedo are a great pair
The 25-year-old Umtiti hasn’t featured regularly for Barcelona since the signing of Clement Lenglet, but he is a decent defender to have on the books.
Semedo would provide quality cover and competition for Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and joined the Catalans a couple of years ago.
However, we cannot lose Van Dijk as he is one reason why our defence has been great. The Dutch captain is a leader too, and finding a replacement wouldn’t be easy.
Liverpool shouldn’t think about selling the Dutchman and we are in the best shape since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival.
