“Liverpool have money to sign him” – Athletic journalist makes bold claim about this Anfield-linked star

Liverpool are more attractive to Jadon Sancho than Manchester United

Premier League leaders Liverpool are seen as a more attractive option for Jadon Sancho than Manchester United, reports the Athletic’s Simon Hughes (h/t Express).

The 19-year-old Sancho has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players in the last two years. However, he has become unsettled at the Bundesliga giants and is sought by many clubs across Europe (h/t Express).

Hughes was speaking on the Athletic’s podcast and claimed that Liverpool are interested in the teen (h/t Express

):

“I’ve heard quite a few people say that Liverpool need another forward and I can understand that. It’s quite clear that Liverpool would quite like to sign Jadon Sancho.”

The journalist recalled a story where Jurgen Klopp claimed he wanted to sign Sancho, but couldn’t because the winger was a Manchester City player.

However, Hughes claimed that the Reds could splash the cash for Sancho:

“It’s quite clear that they’re monitoring his availability and if he was available, Liverpool would have the money to sign him.

“It’s whether he’s available at that time and whether it correlates with Liverpool’s needs at that time.”

Recent success a boost for Reds

Liverpool have been the best English side if we consider the last two seasons.

The Reds won the Champions League last time around and are leading the Premier League by eight points.

That was another point that Hughes highlighted when comparing us with Manchester United:

“If he wanted to move back to England and Liverpool wanted him, Liverpool are going to be ahead of Manchester United in the pecking order.

“There’s no doubt about that. Liverpool are a much better team at the moment, more attractive.”

The report further added that Sancho wants a move away from Dortmund and Klopp likes players of the winger’s ilk.

Sancho has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists for Dortmund this season. He is also a regular for the England national team, and it will be interesting to see when he could be on the move.
