January signing Takumi Minamino has delivered his verdict on what has been a challenging first month for him in the English Premier League. (h/t Liverpoolfc)
Minamino signed from RB Leipzig after impressing in the UEFA Champions League group stages against Liverpool. An exciting playmaker, the Japanese has shown character but often struggled to impose himself so far.
The new Liverpool No. 18 admitted that he needs to be more aggressive on the pitch in order to make a difference.
The 25-year-old has made three appearances for Liverpool including the hard-fought away win to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The player showed excellent mental fortitude to complete the game in spite of playing through a calf injury. (h/t Metro)
The attacker went on to add that he feels a lot stronger now.
“The resilience of the team, I am feeling that much stronger than before I joined.”
With Sadio Mane and Divock Origi injured, Minamino has a good chance of playing against Southampton this season. It would do well for Klopp to play him in the FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury Town. Minamino was critical of his performances so far.
It is only natural that Minamino would find it tough too immediately adapt to a new league and the high standards set by Liverpool. The Japanese playmaker has so far shown he has the desire and mental fortitude to succeed. It will soon hopefully soon transcend onto the pitch.
