Klopp outlines Liverpool’s transfer strategy for near future

Jurgen Klopp issues statement on Liverpool transfer plans

It was a low profile January transfer window for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds moved quickly to secure the signing of Japanese playmaker Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg.

Joe Hardy was a surprise signing from Brentford but the young striker has impressed for the Under 23s so far. The two players accounted for incomings as Liverpool were more focussed on arranging loan deals for some of the club’s promising youngsters.

Liverpool fans will not complain as it is hard to see where exactly the club can add with almost every player in the squad pulling his weight. The situation, however , may differ in the summer as Liverpool could in all possibility be looking to strengthen a Premiership winning team.

Klopp will look to add to his squad in the summer

Speaking in his pre-Southampton press conference, Klopp rightly confirmed that Liverpool will not see any incomings on deadline day.

He spoke of giving players the right opportunity to grow and cited the example of young Reds midfielder Curtis Jones. The local lad has impressed in his outings in cup competitions and has already scored in both appearances in the FA Cup.

Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum turn 30 next season and James Milner is not getting any younger. Liverpool could look to add a young midfielder or two in the summer. Other priorities include a backup at left-back and cover for the front three. Any other transfer could depend on outgoings with the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri likely to leave.

More Liverpool News

Liverpool have been linked to the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. They are some of the brightest young talents in the world and will not come cheap.

If the recent record is anything to go by, the Reds need not take lessons from anyone on recruitment.
