Liverpool players react on social media as youngsters do club proud

In the end, all the fuss amounted to nothing. The Liverpool youngsters came to the fore as the magic of the cup was realized at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp divided opinion when he chose to give himself and his first-team the night off. With the senior squad on vacation, the onus fell onto Neil Critchley and his youngsters to keep the Red flag flying.

The youngsters did justice to the trust kept in them by Klopp and gave the packed Anfield crowd a night to remember.

Liverpool fielded their youngest side in club history, breaking the record set by the squad in December against Aston Villa.

The young Reds showed maturity beyond their years as they mixed guile and courage with the skill to completely overwhelm their opponents.

The Reds were defensively solid and scored when the unfortunate Ro-Shaun Williams put the ball into his own net with a quarter of an hour to go.

Although on vacation, a number of Liverpool’s senior players caught the game and were quick to praise the young team for their victory.

We take a look at how some of the players reacted on social media following the match.
