Luis Suarez hails Liverpool fans as the best in the world
Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was well-loved at Anfield. The Uruguayan always found support in spite of his many transgressions as fans looked to the talismanic striker as a hero.
The striker does not seem to have forgotten it. Speaking about his tenure at Anfield, Suarez declared the Reds faithful as the best in the world, according to Otro (h/t Daily Mail).
The Uruguayan enjoyed sensational individual success during his time at Anfield, scoring 82 goals and providing 47 assists in 133 matches. He almost led Liverpool to the title in the 2013-14 season in an extraordinary season where he scored 31 goals and 12 assists in just 33 Premier League games.
It turned out to be his last season on Merseyside as he made the move to Nou Camp from the Reds in the summer of 2014 for a fee of £75million.
Looking back at his time in England, the striker acknowledged the love he received from the fans at Anfield. He admitted that the fans have always treated him exceptionally well. The Uruguayan also went on to claim that the Reds faithful were indeed the best in the world.
“They are among the best football fans because of all the love they always gave me during my time at Liverpool.”
Suarez is one of the finest strikers to don the Liverpool shirt and was unplayable at times. His performances in the 2013-14 season will live long in the memory. It was an example of supreme individual desire and effort as he almost dragged Liverpool over the line.
He returned to Anfield last season turned out to be anything but joyful. The Catalans threw away a 3-0 first-leg lead as they crashed out 4-0 to a Liverpool side driven on by their outstanding fans.
