Liverpool were bound to lose at some point. It’s not possible that the team would have gone on forever, winning all games.
Watford put in an excellent display and condemned the Reds to their first defeat in 44 games. Ismaila Sarr made up for his profligacy at Anfield to score a brace and Troy Deeney added the cherry on top in what were crucial three points for the Hornets.
It was an abject performance from Liverpool as the team failed to get going collectively or individually. The Reds are still 22 points clear of Manchester City having played a game more. 12 more points will be enough to guarantee the Premier League title.

The Only player to come out with any credit whatsoever. Forced into two saves before and after the break as Watford pressed forward with purpose. Not much he could have done about the three goals and was let down massively by the players in front of him.
A night to forget for the youngster. Looked like a bear stuck in the headlights as Watford got stuck in. Lacked his usual delivery from set-pieces and was even disappointing going forward. Will be furious at himself for the third goal.
Matched up quite well against troy Deeney in the first half. To be fair none of the goals can be blamed on him but did not do his reputation any favors with a less than assured reply. He has not played in a while and it showed as he looked rusty and clumsy. Surprising to see him start over Joel Matip in what could be his last game for the side.
The Dutchman’s worst game in a Reds shirt. Didn’t do much wrong, but hardly did much right either. Watford were more focussed on Lovren to given Van Dijk much trouble. Was caught napping for Sarr’s second in a rare collector’s event.
The best of the back four on the night. He showed purpose and drive to get in behind the Watford defense but was sorely disappointed to see a lack of options in the box. To his credit, never gave up.
Did well to regain possession and win a number of second balls. Lacked ideas on what to do with the ball and failed to show purpose or incisiveness otherwise.
The goalscorer from last week endured an abject display at Vicarage Road. Showed a lack of imagination in passing and failed to make anything happen. His probing runs into the box were also non-existent and was taken off for Adam Lallana.
Extremely disappointing given the promise he showed against West Ham United. Wasteful and lacked presence. Coasted through the game without a memorable moment to note.
Isolated up front and ran into dead alleys. Cannot fault his effort as he never gave up running till the end. He will have better days but tonight was only the second-best Senegalese on the pitch.
Showed flashes of brilliance, although it was far between. He was starved of service and support and it’s hard to see what he could have done.
Another player starved of service and support. The Egyptian showed his pace but ran out of space to run into.
He came off the bench and went closer to scoring than any of his teammates. Unlucky to see his effort hit the bar. Hard to say how the could have gone had it gone in.
The game looked already lost and he could make no tangible difference. Liverpool’s super-sub last season, he was equally lost here.
Came on too late to have any impact.
