“It’s crazy”: Talented Reds youngster slams critics and sends message to Liverpool squad

Curtis Jones sends a message to Liverpool squad following Chelsea loss

According to The Liverpool Echo, promising Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones has branded criticism of Liverpool as ‘crazy’ and called upon the Reds to resume regular service starting against Bournemouth this Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has not had it easy since the winter break and has lost three of their last four games. This is in stark contrast to them losing just two games prior to it.

The latest loss came in the FA Cup where a spirited Chelsea side defeated an extremely underwhelming Liverpool 2-0. Goals from Willian and Ross Barkley in either half put an end to the Reds’ hopes of winning the treble.

Liverpool returns to Premier League action against Bournemouth this weekend, seeking just four more wins to guarantee the club’s first league title in 30 years.

Normal service to resume

The Cherries are fighting against relegation and Jones believes that they represent the perfect team for the Reds to get back to winning ways. He pointed to Liverpool’s record of having lost just once in the league this season to brush aside the criticism levied on the club of late.

He went on to say that in spite of the recent setbacks, the team remains confident and is keen to avenge the back-to-back losses as soon as possible.

“It’s crazy to think the way as soon as the club loses a game or two that everybody starts saying that something is going wrong or the players aren’t performing well.”

He admitted that every team goes through blips and revealed his conviction that the players will be keen to bounce back and set the record straight in the coming games.

Looking back at the Chelsea game, he credited the Blues for having taken advantage of Liverpool’s mistakes. He believes that the Reds did not play as badly as reported and it could have turned out to be a different game had Liverpool scored first.

“I don’t think the scoreline reflected the game itself but good teams punish you.”

A run to remember

The loss brings to end, what has been a memorable FA Cup campaign for the youngster.

He scored the winner in the third round against Merseyside rivals Everton. It is a goal that he will remember for a long time. Jones also became the youngest ever Liverpool captain at 19, when he led a youthful Reds side out against Shrewsbury Town at Anfield.

He admitted that although it is never easy to bow out of the competition, he will have fond memories of his performances in it.

“For me, the FA Cup has been great this season and one that I won’t forget.”

He also reiterated his belief to give his best in the opportunities afforded to him for the rest of the season.
