Alisson Becker makes a heartwarming gesture post-Watford defeat

It was a night to forget for Liverpool as their 44-game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at Vicarage Road. Alisson Becker had a disastrous night, having let in three goals for the first time in the league as a Liverpool player.

Neither the result nor his personal feelings stopped the Brazilian No. 1 from showing his caring side after the full-time whistle. Alisson presented the jersey he wore in the game to his opposite number Ben Foster. The Watford shot-stopper has put the jersey for auction as he aims to raise funds to support those suffering from Leukaemia. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

The news was revealed by Foster, who took to Twitter to thank the Liverpool keeper.

“The highest bidder will get the shirt so anybody seriously interested get in touch on Instagram or in the replies on here.”

Giving back to society

Foster also went on to label Alisson a ‘legend’ following his gesture. The money raised from the shirt’s sale will be given to Cure Leukaemia – an initiative set up to aid the fight against blood cancer.

The response to Foster’s tweet has been overwhelmingly positive with a number of fans bidding for Alisson’s jersey. We admire both the goalkeepers for their effort in contributing back to society, especially the sick.

Alisson has enjoyed a stellar rise since joining Liverpool. The keeper has gone from strength to strength and has added a plethora of individual awards to go with the Champions League crown he helped win last season. The Brazilian was unbeatable in goal as he kept Tottenham at bay throughout the final in Madrid.

Another big performance will be demanded of him as Liverpool look to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Atletico Madrid next week.
