Liverpool fan Sean Cox back home 23 months after brutal attack at Anfield

According to a report by The Mirror, Liverpool fan Sean Cox has finally returned home after 23 months following a brutal attack outside Anfield. It happened ahead of our Champions League encounter against AS Roma and it was indeed an unfortunate incident.

A father of three, Cox endured some life-threatening injuries, courtesy of the away fans outside our famed stadium. Having travelled with his brother Martin to catch the semi-final, the family was in for a rude shock even before a ball was kicked that day.

As a result, he succumbed to a coma due to a number of severe brain injuries. Having undergone rehabilitation over the last two years or so, Cox continues to require care from his family. However, the good news is that he is back home now.

Since the news broke out, Liverpool rallied behind him and provided ample support. The Mirror

reports that a legends charity match last year raised a fee in the region of €748,000 for the Sean Cox Rehabilitation Trust.

After the injury, Cox made his return to Anfield during our win against Manchester City earlier in the season. He also met up with boss Jurgen Klopp then, with the German admitting that he was happy to see him.

The person responsible for the attack, Simone Mastrelli, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to the charges, the Mirror adds.
