According to a report from Daily Mail, Liverpool, along with several other Premier League teams, are fighting to prevent Manchester City from playing in the Champions League while their appeal against a two-year ban is ongoing.
Manchester City were handed a two-year ban from all European football by UEFA and fined £25m due to breach of Financial Fair Play regulations. However, the Cityzens denied any foul play and immediately launched an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to have the ban overturned. (h/t Daily Mail

The report claims that all the top-ten Premier League clubs barring Manchester City and Sheffield United have submitted a joint application to CAS to deny the Cityzens permission to play in the Champions League while their appeal is ongoing.
Liverpool, along with the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea, have all written to the same law firm, which has then sent an application to the CAS.
“For too long, City have been able to get away with breaching the rules at the expense of at least one other club that has been unable to get into the Champions League,” a source told Daily Mail.
Manchester City’s appeal date is yet to be confirmed. With the coronavirus pandemic bringing things to a standstill across the globe, there is a feeling that the hearing will be pushed back.
As of now, Manchester City have not made a request to CAS for a stay on their punishment while their appeal hearing progresses, which would enable them to play in the Champions League next term. However, the rest of the clubs, along with Liverpool, have acted swiftly to ensure that such a scenario does not arise. (h/t Daily Mail)
