PL season expected to be completed despite suggestions to ‘void’ the campaign
In what will be a boost for Liverpool, the Premier League season is on course to be completed despite suggestions from some clubs and pundits to chalk off the 2019/20 campaign. (h/t Mirror)
The 2019/20 season has been suspended until the end of April due to the coronavirus outbreak. This had cast doubts over the status of the league, with there being calls from several quarters to declare the season null and void. (h/t Mirror)
However, as per the latest report from Mirror, majority of the Premier League clubs are understood to be in favour of pushing ahead with the season. A shareholders meeting is scheduled for next week, where the future of the season will be discussed along with the possibility of playing the rest of the matches behind closed doors.
The expectation is that the suspension is likely to be pushed back further beyond the end of next month. But a majority of the teams are pushing for a resumption of the league as soon as it is declared safe to do so. (h/t Mirror)
The decision to finish the season has also been backed by our arch-rivals Manchester United.
