Jurgen Klopp is keen on promising Real Madrid starlet Vinicius Junior

According to Spanish publication Diario Madridista (h/t Express), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on Real Madrid prodigy Vinicius Junior.

The German is keen on striking lucky the second time around as he makes the Brazilian his transfer priority for the summer transfer window. Liverpool had earlier failed to sign the player last year.

Still only 19, Vinicius has notched up an impressive 59 appearances for the Spanish giants. He has scored 7 goals and 15 assists during that time at the Santiago Bernebeu.

Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah could miss an important chunk of next season owing to their national commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations.

With two of the vaunted front three unavailable, reinforcing the attack is a priority for Liverpool. Chances of signing Vinicius are remote with Madrid unwilling to sell.

Although this was the season where he was supposed to establish himself in Zinedine Zidane’s first XI, it is fair to say things have not gone to plan. Vinicius has made just a few starts in La Liga this season as Madrid have struggled to hit their previous heights under the French legend.

In spite of the setbacks, Vinicius remains content at the club, reciprocating the unwillingness of Madrid to sell him. He intends to stay and fight in order to leave a lasting impact in the famous white shirt.

Madrid signed Vinicius from the Brazilian side Flamengo for £39.6million in 2018. It is the highest fee ever paid for a player under the age of 18.

A versatile player, Vinicius is capable of playing both up front and on either wing.  He has primarily started on the left wing and played a starring role as Madrid downed arch-rivals Barcelona earlier this month.
