Milot Rashica fears he will not get enough game time at Liverpool
According to the German publication Weser Kurier (h/t Daily Star), Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica is set to snub a move to Liverpool as he believes he will not get enough playing time.
The Kosovan international has enjoyed a fine season in the Bundesliga for Die Werderaner and has contributed 10 goals and five assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
Interest in the player is high with both Aston Villa and Southampton also monitoring the Kosovan international’s situation apart from Italian giants Napoli. (h/t Birmingham Mail).
Liverpool will be keen to add strength in depth, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Xherdan Shaqiri’s future. According to the report, Jurgen Klopp intends to replace the Swiss international with Rashica.
The idea does not sit well with Rashica, who is not keen on a squad role. He is, however, open to leaving Bremen and has a release clause of just £35million.
A tricky situation
A cautionary tale for the Kosovan is that of Takumi Minamino. The Japanese playmaker was a star at Salzburg but has largely played a rotational role at Anfield since making the switch in January.
It is still early days and Minamino can still come good. The truth, however, remains that one cannot see him displace any of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino from the starting XI.
The Reds have an excellent front three but are founding wanting when it comes to their backups. The likes of Divock Origi and Shaqiri have struggled for both form and fitness this season.
Both of them have immense goodwill for their performances last season, but it can only last so much without jeopardizing the future of the club. A pragmatic view of matters shows that an upgrade is absolutely essential for Liverpool to keep growing.

Rashica is an excellent player, but not better than either Mane or Salah. He will much add much-needed quality in depth for the Reds.
Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are set to play in the Africa Cup of Nations, leaving Liverpool without their services mid -season. If Rashica does indeed make the move to Anfield, he will be provided with enough opportunities to showcase his talent.
