Liverpool to battle European giants to sign Monaco ace Wissam Ben Yedder
According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool are set to battle it out against some of Europe’s biggest names for the signature of Wissam Ben Yedder.
The former Sevilla striker has proven to be a hit at the Stade Louis II. He has netted 19 goals and 9 assists in 31 appearances since making the move in the summer.
His prolific run has caught the eye of Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid among others. Interest from Spain will come as no surprise considering his time at Sevilla where he plundered in 70 goals and 22 assists in 138 appearances.
Interest from England is no joke either, with a number of top clubs keen. Ben Yedder is priced at £40million, £5m more than what Monaco signed him for. Interestingly, Barcelona, who the player claimed tried to sign him, are not named as one of the interested parties.
The Frenchman is a prolific scorer who can lead the line with aplomb. A technically gifted footballer, he has the ability to read the game and be at the right place at the right time.
He will be a dependable option to have at Anfield. His presence will give Jurgen Klopp more options up the pitch. The German will be familiar with the Frenchman, who netted three goals and one assist in two matches against us in 2017/18.
Better options elsewhere!
We, however, do not believe the club will be best served by making a move for the 29-year-old. The quoted price is too steep for a player who will be 30 years old in four months’ time.

Liverpool also continue to be linked to Leipzig ace Timo Werner. The German forward has openly spoken of his admiration for the Reds and has a release clause of around £52million. At just 23. he will a far better investment when compared to Ben Yedder.
